Self- Directed Engaged Learning
By setting goals and strategies for learning, children become attuned and better prepared to change as the world changes. This helps children foster their innate curiosity to learn, and helps them realize their potential.
This skill helps children analyze and evaluate information to guide their beliefs, decisions and actions. Children need critical thinking to make sense of the world around them and to solve problems.
This Life Skill is at the heart of learning: figuring out what’s the same, what’s different, and sorting them into categories. Making unusual connections is at the core of creativity and moves children beyond knowing information to using information well.
A vital life skill is a social competence or the ability to elicit positive responses from others. This competency requires a character-based understanding of respectful behavior towards others. It is of the utmost importance for students to be able to approach life situations in a way that demonstrates respect. This calls for positive social responses to themselves, engaging with authority figures, and peers.
This involves understanding what others think and feel, and forms the basis for children’s understanding of the intentions of parents, teachers, and friends. This skill can help children be less likely to engage in violent conflicts.
Bravery
Bravery is the mental and emotional attitude and ability to deal with difficult, challenging, and sometimes seemingly impossible, and fearful circumstances. It is the ability to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, intimidation, and other threats while bravely holding onto your standards and values. In a time when peer and environmental pressure happens at such an early age, we need to equip our children with a brave attitude.
